When the Buffalo Bills fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Title game last season, one of the big reasons they lost, according to some analysts, was the lack of a true No. 1 receiver.
Pickings were slim for the organization to improve that group during both free agency and the draft.
But ...
They were still able to come away with one of the better overall weapons in the offseason.
Joshua Palmer, the veteran wide receiver from the Los Angeles Chargers, signed a free agent deal with the Bills to the tune of a three-year, $36 million agreement. Palmer had been a consistent receiving threat for the Chargers offense with Justin Herbert throwing him the ball.
Now, he gets Josh Allen, the reigning league MVP as the person in charge of getting him the rock.
With Buffalo returning most of their offense from last season, the addition of Palmer, and his versatility, makes the group even more powerful than they were over the last couple of years.
“I pride myself a lot on playing every position on the field," said Palmer during an interview on One Bills Live. "So even when I train, I train in the slot, I train in the boundary, I train out wide because it's a whole different game in those three different spots. So I like to pride myself on knowing how to do all that."
The organization will need to get the Toronto native Palmer integrated into the offense as quickly as possible at this point. With his skill set, though, there's hope that Palmer will be an immediate contributor to Buffalo's elite offense.
And might be the last piece of the puzzle to get the organization past the Chiefs once and for all.
