Manchester City target Tijjani Reijnders is expected to “cost more than €70m (£59m)”, according to reports in the Dutch media.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel at the end of last week that the Cityzens are planning to make an “official offer” for the Netherlands international worth “more than €50m”.
However, De Telegraaf claim that bid will fall well short of Milan’s asking price. The Rossoneri are hoping to exceed their record transfer fee received.

That currently stands at the €68.5m they got for Kaka when he was sold to Real Madrid all the way back in 2009.
Reijnders has been praised by his international manager
The 26-year-old has been in great form this season, having found the back of the net 15 times and registered 5 assists in 53 appearances at club level this season.
Reinjders has also received praise from Ronald Koeman. Speaking last year, the Netherlands boss described him as a “super complete midfielder”.
Why are Milan demanding so much for the City transfer target?
Reijnders only signed a new contract with his current team at the beginning of March. He put pen to paper on a five-year deal keeping him at the San Siro until the summer of 2030.
It is, therefore, understandable why Milan would be reluctant to let him go. However, the Serie A side are not exactly in the best of positions to reject sizeable offers for their players.
Sergio Conceicao’s team are sitting 9th in the table with one game to go. They are five points adrift of the European places so they won’t receive prize money from competing in continental competitions next season. It means they can’t really afford to turn down bids for any of their first-team squad.
Reijnders’ availability has not just piqued the interest of City. Reports in Italy have also mentioned Chelsea as a potential suitors so the Manchester club are clearly hoping to win the race by making an early move for him.
