Shocking Aaron Rodgers Update Reveals He Almost Signed With NFC Team

The 2025 NFL offseason has been full of Aaron Rodgers rumors and reports. While he's currently still expected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, other teams were involved with him early on in free agency.

Both the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings were heavily rumored to be potential suitors as well.

While both the Giants and Vikings were involved in the rumor mill, both teams moved on in a different direction at the quarterback position. Now, the Steelers are left as his prime destination.

A new update has been given that reveals Rodgers almost signed with New York.

ESPN insider Jordan Raanan has shared that at one point this offseason, it looked like Rodgers would become the next starting quarterback for the Giants.

"There was a point during the multiweek dalliance that it seemed like it might happen," Raanan wrote. "Rodgers had a one-on-one conversation with Daboll to explore if it made sense on a football level, a source with knowledge of the conversation confirmed.

"A free agent for the first time in his career, Rodgers had the Giants and several others playing a waiting game. The Pittsburgh Steelers are still in that position almost two months later."

Raanan continue and revealed that after that hot period of Rodgers possible switching teams in New York, the Giants decided to move on and pivot to Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston.

New York not only signed both Wilson and Winston, the team was also able to trade for a second first-round pick in the NFL draft to land Jaxson Dart.

At this point, it seems Pittsburgh will sign Rodgers. That isn't set in stone, but all signs are pointing to that outcome becoming a reality.

Rodgers is coming off of a season with the New York Jets where he threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing 63% of his passes.
