Travis Hunter: Jaguars Two-Way Superstar Dynasty Outlook

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up with the Cleveland Browns to select two-way player Travis Hunter with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Jaguars say the plan is to play Hunter at offense first, before learning the defense. How does he fit into the Jags offense? What is Travis Hunter’s dynasty outlook, and should fantasy managers use a top-four pick on him in rookie dynasty drafts?

Note: This is a dynasty outlook for offensive fantasy leagues only. No IDP considerations.

Dynasty Outlook for Travis Hunter

Current Production

Hunter spent one season at Jackson State before coming over to Colorado with Deion and Shedeur Sanders. He spenttwo seasons at Colorado playing both wide receiver and cornerback. In his final season, Hunter had 96 receptions for 1258 receiving yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. He won the Biletnikoff Award for the best wide receiver, the Bednarik Award for the best defensive player, and the Heisman Trophy for the best overall player. It was a remarkable season for Hunter, leading to his second overall selection in the NFL Draft.

Hunter Dynasty Price

According to KeepTradeCut, a website that crowdsources dynasty values from players who use the site, Hunter is the WR13. He was the WR20 before the Draft, with concerns that the Browns would not use him fully on offense. With the Jaguars taking him and saying he would play offense full-time, his ranking jumped up to WR13. He is ranked behind Marvin Harrison Jr., Ladd McConkey, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, while ranked ahead of Garrett Wilson, A.J. Brown, and Tetairoa McMillan.

In dynasty rookie drafts, Hunter is being drafted around the 1.03 or 1.04. Ashton Jeanty is the obvious 1.01, and then the next three picks in some order are Omarion Hampton, McMillan, and Hunter. In some leagues, Hunter goes before McMillan, and in others, McMillan goes first. It seems to be a toss up right now.

Hunter Dynasty Outlook

Brian Thomas Jr. is a superstar wide receiver, but the Jaguars have little depth behind him after trading Christian Kirk to the Texans and releasing Gabe Davis and tight end Evan Engram. The other current receivers are Parker Washington and Dyami Brown. Brenton Strange is a decent option at tight end. Hunter is the clear WR2 on the team. Both Thomas and Hunter will demand a massive target share, and they should both get it.

The Jaguars offense and quarterback Trevor Lawrence have been disappointing, so they hired Liam Coen as their new head coach. Coen was the offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield, and had a terrific season last year. The offense should be much better with Coen in charge, which is a boost to all members of the offense.

Risks with Travis Hunter

The biggest concern with Hunter is whether he can play both sides of the ball at a high level for his entire career. The Jaguars began by having him learn the offense, and then learning the defense later. They gave up a haul to move up to draft him, so they want to use him on both sides of the ball. However, what happens if he gets injured from playing too many snaps, and he has to decide to only play one side of the ball for the rest of his career? What if he is so much better at cornerback in the NFL, and the Jags move him to a full-time CB with limited snaps on offense? Unlike other rookie receivers, there is not a 100% chance that Hunter will be a wide receiver in five seasons. Although there is a low chance of this happening, it is a factor that needs to be considered.

Should You Draft Travis Hunter in Dynasty Leagues?

Fantasy managers have to decide whether or not the risk is worth it to take Hunter over players such as McMillan or Hampton. I am taking both of them over Hunter. If Hunter gets to 1.04, I would take Hunter, or look to trade back. Hunter will be a superstar in the NFL, but whether or not he can play both sides of the ball successfully will determine his dynasty outlook.
