Arsenal defender William Saliba is a doubt for the Gunners’ final game of the season after suffering a hamstring injury.
The Frenchman had to come off during Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Newcastle United on Sunday which secured the Gunners Champions League football for next season.
It was the last game at the Emirates this season where the Arsenal faithful were able to show their love and support for the players after the final whistle. Getting the win made the occasion all the more special.
However, it could have been Saliba‘s last contribution for Arsenal this season as he had a hamstring injury late on in the game, he is now being assessed.
Mikel Arteta said after the game: “I think one of the last actions – when he was tracking back – he felt something in his hamstring, so we will need to scan and see how he is.”
Expected return date – Sunday 25 May vs Southampton
Jurrien Timber
Full-back Jurrien Timber is also a doubt for the game against Southampton next week. He wasn’t fit enough to feature against Newcastle as he is dealing with a knee injury.
The Dutchman was in training last week, but in a limited capacity. Arteta said before the Newcastle game: “They’ve done parts, not a complete session, so we’re going to have to wait and see tomorrow if they can deal with things that they haven’t done. They weren’t ready to do that at the end of the week.”
He is currently being assessed ahead of the Southampton game, if not he will make his next appearance in pre-season.
