Bengals 3,000-Yard RB Named Likely Cut Candidate

By most so-called expert accounts, the Cincinnati Bengals had one of the more disappointing drafts this season, and it's hoped that it won't affect their 2025 campaign.

As the team attempts to re-tool the roster ahead of the new season, some are already guessing at how that takes shape before the season opener on Sept. 7 in Cleveland.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox predicted every NFL team's best player who could still be cut in the 2025 offseason, and named Bengals running back Zack Moss as that player in Cincinnati.

"It may actually be a bit surprising if running back Zack Moss isn't released before the start of the season," Knox wrote. "Though the 27-year-old has 61 games and over 3,000 scrimmage yards on his resume, he's also coming off of a season-ending neck injury. The Cincinnati Bengals have a starter in Chase Brown and added Samaje Perine in free agency before drafting Tahj Brooks. They could also save $2.7 million by releasing Moss."

The Bengals already adjusted his contract to open up some cap room, but as Knox writes, parting ways with him would open up another almost $3 million.

Second year back, Chase Brown rushed for 990 yards last season while averaging 4.3 yards per carry and scoring seven touchdowns. He added another 54 catches for 360 yards and four scores through the air.

The team welcomed Samaje Perine back and took Texas Tech standout back Tahj Brooks in the sixth round of this year's draft, so the room is pretty crowded right now.

Brooks set the all-time career rushing record for the Red Raiders last season and knows how to carry the ball.

If the team deems the RB room too busy, Moss could be the odd man out based on how much they save by releasing him.
