The Philadelphia have been teasing for months that they would eventually agree to terms on an extension with head coack Nick Sirianni.
Now, that has become a reality.
The organization announced Monday morning that they agreed to terms with the Super Bowl winning coach on a long-term extension with the franchise. While contract details are rarely made public by the organization, the expectation is that it will keep Sirianni in Philadelphia for the long-term.
"As an organization, we have always strived to create a championship culture of sustained success," Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. "Nothing is more important to fostering such an environment than having tremendous leadership. Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago.
"His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles."
Few head coaches in sports have had the kind of success that Sirianni has had since becoming head coach of the team in 2021. Since his hiring, the former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator has gone 48-20 with the Eagles and his winning percentage (.706) in the third highest in the Super Bowl era.
His 6-3 record in the postseason and has also included two trips to the Super Bowl, including a 40-22 blowout win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Sirianni does not call plays, but has full control of the locker room as a leader. That alone is why the Eagles head coach has done something not even Andy Reid was able to do when he first joined the team.
Reach the playoffs all four years of his current tenure.
With the Eagles enjoying an unprecedented level of success, it was a no-brainer for Sirianni to get the extension he has deserved.
