Victor Osimhen has revealed he is "enjoying the moment" at Galatasaray after the Turkish side were crowned Super Lig champions on Sunday.
The Nigerian scored his 36th goal of the season against Kayserispor this weekend as Galatasaray secured the double after winning the Turkish Cup earlier this month. It means the 26-year-old now has 44 goal contributions in 40 games in all competitions, with two Super Lig games left to play.
With Osimhen expected to leave Napoli permanently this summer when his loan deal at Galatasaray comes to an end, it remains to be seen where the striker will be playing his football next season. football.london understands Chelsea remain interested in Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window, although the club are also monitoring a handful of other strikers. Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap are just two players who the club have scouted in recent months.
Osimhen was asked about his future after Galatasaray clinched the Turkish league title on Sunday. “I feel very happy. It is incredible to take part in Galatasaray’s history and reach the fifth star,” he said.
“We have two matches left. We will look to have fun. I am enjoying the moment. I am not thinking about my future.”
The latest comments come after Osimhen admitted his love for Galatasaray last month. "There are always rumours about me, but I live in the moment. Right now, I’m enjoying all of this," he said.
“The fans have supported me incredibly, not just me, but also my teammates and my family. The best decision for everyone will be made. But Galatasaray will always have a place in my heart.”
A move to Chelsea for Osimhen may depend on if the club qualify for the Champions League next season. After their 1-0 win over Manchester United on Friday, the Blues are in a commanding position to finish in the top five. A win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday will secure their place in Europe's top competition.
Enzo Maresca, too, knows that qualifying for the Champions League is important if the club want to spend big in the summer. "Football is not five, 10 years ago when the rules were different,” the head coach said.
“Today you have to be careful how much you spend. It will be a completely different kind of target if we finish in the Champions League.”
