Deebo Samuel's reaction to Purdy contract shows how he really feels about 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have signed quarterback Brock Purdy to a massive contract extension and everyone has a take on it. Former Niners wide receiver Deebo Samuel weighed in and showed how he truly feels about Purdy and his former team.

Samuel took to social media to share his thoughts, which can be viewed below:

If you cannot view the post, Samuel posted a picture of him and Purdy to his Instagram story, writing, "Congrats brother!!! Well deserved."

It is a nice and classy gesture from Samuel and shows there is clearly no bad blood between him and the Niners after he was traded to the Washington Commanders earlier this offseason.

At the time of his departure, it seemed as if there might have been some animosity between Samuel and San Francisco's front office. However, the veteran wide receiver made it clear that he felt no ill will towards anyone in the 49ers organization and that he had nothing but love for the team that drafted him. His heartfelt essay in The Players Tribune really showed that Deebo was not leaving the Bay Area on bad terms, he just felt he needed a fresh start which he probably did after his struggles last season.

Deebo was always an ardent supporter of Purdy and was never afraid to come to his signal-caller's defense when he was criticized. Samuel was the same way with Jimmy Garoppolo, which shows how good of a teammate he was. Even if Samuel could be a little bit of a wide receiver diva at times, ultimately, he was a good teammate who was there for his guys, which is a big reason why Niners fans should still look back on his tenure with the team fondly even if his play regressed his last few years in red and gold.

Now, he will be playing for the burgundy in gold in Washington. We will have to see if a change of scenery will bring back the Deebo we saw earlier in his career or if his regression will continue as he ages.

No matter what, it is nice to see him support Purdy in this was even though they are no longer teammates. It just reinforces the fact that there are no bad feelings between Deebo and the Niners and that he still has a lot of love for the guys he used to go into battle with.
