Tierney, who is set to rejoin his boyhood club on a pre-contract agreement, came off the bench during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday, marking his farewell appearance at the Emirates. Fans chanted ‘There’s only one Kieran Tierney’.
The 27-year-old, who signed for the Gunners from Celtic in 2019, has battled through injuries and stiff competition to earn plaudits for his professionalism and commitment during his time in North London. And that effort hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Posting on his Instagram story, ITV presenter and Arsenal fan Dermot O’Leary offered a message of appreciation to the Scotland international, saying: “True Professional, thanks for an incredible shift.”
Tierney’s return to Celtic has been a major talking point in recent months, with the club moving quickly to secure his services ahead of next season. The move is a terrific piece of business for Brendan Rodgers as he looks to build a squad capable of progressing in Europe and defending domestic dominance.
Now, KT is set to come home and few Celtic fans will need reminding just how much of a difference a fit and fired-up Tierney can make.
