Are Man City And Chelsea Really Behind Tottenham In The Race To Sign This£68M English Midfielder?

Eberechi Eze Crystal Palace

Selhurst Park Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze has become the talking point in England after he helped Crystal Palace lift the FA Cup at the weekend and it’s now almost certain that the playmaker will leave Selhurst Park at the end of this season.

Eze along with Henderson were the standout players at Wembley and even though he did not have any takers last summer, that will surely not be the case this year. His contract has a £68 million release clause and the performances he’s delivered this season, any club will be happy to meet these demands.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been heavily linked with the 26-year-old but according to a report in Fichajes, the £68 million release clause isn’t a problem for Tottenham Hotspur either. Ange believes Eberechi Eze will be the perfect fit in his system and Spurs are not shying away from challenging for the attacking midfielder.

Can Spurs move ahead of Chelsea and Man City to sign Eberechi Eze?

Tottenham Hotspur can still end their season with a silverware but even if they go on to lift the Europa League, it will be very hard for the Lilywhites to get their hands on a talent like Eze.

He’s an attacking midfielder who can also play as a left-winger and this versatility means he can play in tandem with James Maddison and also replace Son on the flank. There’s no doubt the Englishman can make the Spurs side a lot better next season but if Chelsea or Manchester City are seriously considering him, Eberechi Eze will prefer to wait for one of them.

City have other creative midfielders in mind, namely Florian Wirtz but Chelsea can surely do with the Crystal Palace star. Eberechi Eze can help take the load off Cole Palmer’s shoulders and with Sancho and Mudryk set to leave, he could become a mainstay on the left-hand side.

Tottenham might be willing to break the bank to sign the midfielder but the way they have been playing in recent years, joining them will hardly be an upgrade for Eze. Manchester United and Spurs are both going to finish in the second half of the table but at least United have a clear plan of action of what they want to do in the summer and then next season.

Spurs, on the other hand, look as clueless as ever and after the season they are having, Daniel Levy will once again have to gamble on bargain signings and hope they come good.

In conclusion, Chelsea and Manchester City can take their time to decide whether they want to sign Eberechi Eze or not because the 26-year-old isn’t joining Tottenham in a hurry.
