The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans have only had to deal with Frankie Luvu for one season, but they may be completely sick of him already..
Not only did the Washington Commanders edge rusher knock Jalen Hurts out of the game in a Week 16 contest with a concussion, but the veteran linebacker is now openly going after the Eagles’ most unstoppable play.
The Tush Push.
As owners from around the league meet in Minnesota this week to discuss whether the Tush Push should be banned, the All-Pro Luvu has given his opinion of the play.
Spoiler alert … he wants it banned.
"My personal opinion? I think they should ban it," Luvu said in an interview with "Good Morning Football" on NFL Network. "But I know the argument's going to be about, 'Hey, you guys have to stop it. Don't get us in short yardage,' and whatnot.
"But it's kind of like a cheapo play. ... That's pretty much a scrum in rugby. That's how I kind of look at it. And we've got to have a scrum, too, on the other side. And the scrum is, we have a cadence where we all go at once. It's not like you hard count and this and that, where now you're getting us -- or myself -- jumping over the pile thinking that you're going to snap the ball.
“That's just my own personal opinion, and I'm going to leave it at that."
Luvu's comments are pretty hilarious overall. First, calling a play that defenses can't stop "cheap" simply sounds like sour grapes.
Luvu looks embarrassingly ridiculous complaining about a play that would not have changed how the NFC Title game went.
Philadelphia's 55 points in the NFC title game scored against the Commanders did not all come from the Tush Push.
Philly beat Luvu’s team with a full load of unstoppable plays.
And if the Tush Push gets banned? The Eagles plan on doing more of the same against Washington and the rest of the NFL.
