According to Pro Football Focus's recent rankings following free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft, the Eagles stand tall with the NFL's top-ranked units at offensive line, linebacker, and cornerback.
Even with the departure of right guard Mekhi Becton to the Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia's offensive line remains the gold standard in the NFL. The unit features an imposing lineup with Jordan Mailata at left tackle, Landon Dickerson at left guard, Cam Jurgens at center, and Lane Johnson anchoring the right tackle position. While Tyler Steen appears to be the frontrunner to replace Becton at right guard, he'll face competition from Kenyon Green and Matt Pryor.
The Eagles further bolstered their depth by adding veteran swing tackle Kendall Lamm in free agency. PFF analyst Dalton Wasserman noted that despite Jurgens posting a modest 65.6 overall grade in his first season as the Eagles' center, the group's combination of top-end talent and depth keeps them in the league's top spot.
The linebacker position, once considered a weakness in Philadelphia, now stands as the NFL's best unit "by a wide margin," according to PFF. The transformation begins with Zack Baun, who delivered an All-Pro season in 2024 and earned PFF's highest grade among all NFL linebackers. While the Eagles must navigate the uncertainty surrounding Nakobe Dean's recovery from a torn patellar tendon suffered in last season's wild-card victory over Green Bay, they've added significant reinforcements.
The Eagles struck gold in the 2025 NFL Draft when Alabama star Jihaad Campbell, widely considered the draft's top linebacker prospect, fell to them in the first round. They further strengthened the position by selecting Georgia's Smael Mondon in the fifth round. With promising young talent in Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Dallas Gant also in the mix, Philadelphia has transformed a traditional position of weakness into a clear strength.
Perhaps GM Howie Roseman's most impressive accomplishment has been building the NFL's top cornerback group despite parting ways with veteran Darius Slay Jr. and allowing Isaiah Rodgers to sign with Minnesota. Kelee Ringo, Eli Ricks, and rookie Mac McWilliams round out a cornerback room that combines youth, talent, and scheme versatility.
While PFF specifically highlighted these three position groups, the Eagles could make a strong case for elite status at both running back and wide receiver as well. Despite significant roster turnover from their championship core, Philadelphia has reloaded effectively through shrewd free agency moves and draft selections.
With three position groups ranking as the NFL's best and additional strengths across the roster, the Eagles have positioned themselves as one of the league's most formidable teams heading into the 2025 season.
