“This made me very happy” – Player thrilled with move to Arsenal, wants to find consistency

Over the past few weeks, there’s been the occasional mention of AC Milan interest in Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori.

The Italian arrived at the Emirates from Bologna last summer and despite some fitness problems, has managed to give a good account of himself under Mikel Arteta.

The versatile defender has been asked about his future at Arsenal in an interview with Gianluca di Marzio and made it clear he’s happy with the Gunners.

Calafiori said: “I am very happy at Arsenal”

He went on to insist he has no regrets about his decision to join the London club, even though they will be ending the season without winning silverware.

“For me personally it was a great experience. Obviously when you win trophies it’s always better. Here I measured myself against the most important and difficult championship in the world.”

Speaking further about his first season, the Italy international stated: “I saw that I can be there easily, this made me very happy and I am convinced of the choice I made. Any regrets? None, absolutely.”

He was also his opinions ahead of the 2024/25 season and said he wants to be more consistent next season.

“I always feel good in every position I play, I try to help the team. In my opinion, what was missing was just continuity this year. I will try to be more consistent next year. When I was good, I always played and I also made the difference. The goal is just to stay in shape all year.”

Calafiori doesn’t appear to be interested in leaving Arsenal and wants to stay and improve next season, hopefully leaving his history of knee problems behind him.

If he stays clear of those issues, he could play a much more important role next season and his versatility can be a massive positive for the Gunners.
