There are early hopes Jurrien Timber could return from injury in time for Arsenal’s pre-season tour this summer, following his surgery on an ankle injury.

Simon Collings reports for The Standard that it’s too early to put a definitive timeline on Jurrien Timber’s return from injury, but there’s some optimism he’ll be ready for pre-season.

Collings adds that Timber has been playing through the pain barrier for the last few months, trying to help Arsenal with their Champions League run. With that run at an end, and Champions League qualification secured for next season, now is evidently the best time to address the underlying issue.

Sam Dean of The Telegraph broke the news of Timber’s injury on Monday, following the right-back’s absence from the squad against Newcastle United at the weekend.

Dean also reported that Timber had been managing fitness issues in recent weeks, and that the club’s medical staff had decided surgery is now necessary to address the problem.

But at the time, the journalist wasn’t sure just how long Timber might be out.

Timber made 48 appearances for Arsenal in 2024/25, playing a consistent role in the team despite making his comeback from a year out with an ACL injury.

The hope is that the 23-year-old can make a similarly strong return from this ankle procedure. In the meantime, with Takehiro Tomiyasu also still out, Ben White will have to make another start against Southampton this weekend.
