Barca set to make major U-turn on summer transfer plans

Barcelona are reportedly set to make a major change in their summer transfer plans as they try to prepare for the 2025-26 season.

The Catalans have long been tipped to strengthen at full-back, but it’s now been claimed they will switch focus elsewhere.

According to Diario Sport, Barcelona are now thinking “the idea is not to incorporate any full-backs” as Hansi Flick has decided his current players can be trusted.

The German coach has Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin as his left-back options, while prospect Jofe Torrents has just signed a new deal and is being tipped to take part in pre-season.

Over at right-back, Jules Kounde is first choice and is backed up by Hector Fort and even Eric Garcia.

Flick was said to be keen on Jeremie Frimpong - who now looks set to join Liverpool instead - but is “not convinced by other options.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hinted the club will dip into the transfer market this summer, but it appears attacking reinforcements are top of the agenda rather than additions to the backline.

Is that the right decision?
