Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey wants to stay at the Emirates

Thomas Partey is prepared to turn down big-money offers from Saudi Arabia as he prioritizes staying at Arsenal. With just two months remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, the midfielder is fixated on securing a new deal with the club. Despite interest from abroad, Partey is keen to continue his career in North London. He wants to emphasize in contributing to Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans. Negotiations over fresh terms, however, are still not confirmed.

Arsenal are eager to keep Thomas Partey at the club. They already did their part by holding discussions with his representatives in recent weeks. The Ghanaian midfielder is also keen to stay and hopes to have his future sorted before Arsenal’s final game of the season against Southampton next week. However, despite both sides showing interest in reaching an agreement, there’s a possibility that negotiations could extend beyond the season’s end.

Meanwhile the Arsenal player is attracting significant interest from several major European clubs. That includes Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus. In addition to those options, clubs in Saudi Arabia are also expressing strong interest in securing his services. Despite these offers, Partey remains focused on staying at Arsenal. Even though his future is not clear at the moment as contract talks continue.

Partey adamant on staying at Arsenal

Despite interest from top European clubs and Saudi Arabia, Thomas Partey’s clear preference is to sign a new contract with Arsenal. The midfielder is hopeful that an agreement can be reached soon. He remains eager to continue his journey in North London. This season has arguably been his best since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for around £45 million. Hence his performances played a key role in Arsenal’s campaign this term.

This season also highlights a significant improvement in Thomas Partey’s fitness and availability. Since joining Arsenal, injuries have been affecting his rhythm. However, this time he enjoyed his most consistent run in terms of fitness. He is on track to make 50 appearances in a single campaign for the first time since the 2017–18 season at Atletico Madrid . This is proof of his resilience and importance to the squad this year.

Gunners considering other midfield options this summer

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their midfield this summer with the planned signing of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. They are adamant on signing the defensive midfielder for quite some time.

Arsenal maintain a strong understanding with Real Sociedad, which could work in their favour during negotiations. The two clubs have already been doing business recently. That is when Arsenal signed Mikel Merino from the Spanish side last summer in a deal worth around £30 million. That successful transfer contributed in building mutual trust, potentially easing talks over Martin Zubimendi.

On the other hand, Arsenal are preparing for the likely departure of Jorginho, who is on his way to leave the club this summer. The 33-year-old midfielder received an offer from Brazilian side Flamengo and is considering his options. Like Thomas Partey, Jorginho’s current contract is on its way to expire at the end of next month. And so far, no new agreement has been there at all. His exit would open up space in midfield, reinforcing Arsenal’s need to bring in reinforcements ahead of the new season.

Jorginho came close to leaving Arsenal a year ago but ultimately signed a one-year extension to remain at the club. Now, with his contract on the line of extinction, he is reportedly considering a new opportunity. Brazilian side Flamengo are okay with offering him at least a two-year deal, presenting a longer-term option as he weighs his next move.
