“In life almost nothing is impossible” – Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Manchester City’s Erling Haaland

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has refused to rule out a move for Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, insisting that nothing is impossible.

[Mundo Deportivo cover comments](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20250520/1002468026/laporta-revela-que-piensa-barca-haaland-nico-williams.html) from the Barcelona president today after he appeared on the programme “La Nit dels Campions.”

That show saw him discussing various Barcelona topics as they celebrate winning La Liga and plan for the future.

The topic of two big name strikers was on the agenda, Erling Haaland and Nico Williams, with Barcelona having targeted moves for both last summer.

Neither ended up arriving, with Williams signing a new deal at boyhood club Athletic Bilbao and Haaland also extending his contract with Manchester City. That deal runs until 2034, a ten-year deal that has been seen as a sign he has no intention of moving anywhere.

The Norwegian superstar has long been linked with a move to Spain, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona long-term admirers before he joined Manchester City in 2022.

Indeed, he could be seen as the long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski at the Camp Nou, with the Polish striker now 36-years-old and the elderly statesman in a team that has thrived thanks to the introduction of young stars like Lamine Yamal.

Laporta was cautious about saying anything definitive but insists that nothing is impossible for the Catalans.

_“Although in life almost nothing is impossible, right now we are not thinking about making an addition of this type, because he has also just renewed his contract,”_ he said.

_“There will surely be changes in the squad. The opponents will strengthen, and every year we start from scratch. First, we have to assess what we have, as Deco says, with Lamine, Raphinha, De Jong. According to what Hansi and Deco are saying, positions will be strengthened. Perhaps one per line, but this isn’t the time to reveal who or in what positions.”_
