“Green Bay Would Be The Perfect Landing Spot For Him”: Cincinnati Bengals Trey Hendrickson…

The Green Bay Packers during the 2024 NFL season had a very shaky pass rush. Green Bay did not do a whole lot in the offseason to address the defensive line.

General manager Brian Gutekunst believes in the players he currently has on the roster to produce in 2025. However, one player that could potentially be traded before the 2025 NFL season is Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson. Hendrickson is looking for a new contract with Cincinnati, but it appears as if they may not give him one. Should the Packers make a trade for the star pass rusher if he hits the trade market?

Cincinnati Bengals Trey Hendrickson speaks at a press conference after practice, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Kettering Health Practice Fields in Downtown Cincinnati.

ESPN.com writer Matt Bowen wrote an article about best fits for potential trade candidates and remaining free agents. For the Bengals star pass rusher, Bowen thinks that the best fit for him would be Green Bay. He said,

“After being granted permission to seek a trade in March, Hendrickson is refusing to play with the Bengals until he receives a new contract. If no deal comes together, Green Bay would be the perfect landing spot for him, as he’d pair well with Rashan Gary in Jeff Hafley’s defensive system. Lukas Van Ness, a 2023 first-rounder, is still developing at this stage, so there is a path for Green Bay to add more to its defensive line.

Hendrickson is a relentless defender off the edge, with a deep toolbox of counters and a knack for making plays late in the down. His 17.5 sacks and 65 pressures were league highs in 2024. This would be a big-time get for the Packers’ defense, which tied for the eighth-most sacks last season (45).”

He is 30 years old and will be getting north of $15 million for the 2025 NFL season. It would be malpractice if the Bengals were not able to give him a long-term contract. The Packers should trade for him if he is made available. Hendrickson would be able to improve the team’s pash rush in a hurry.

In 2024 with Cincinnati, he had 46 tackles, 17.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and six pass deflections. Hendrickson would be able to provide a big-time boost for this defense. Rashan Gary had the most sacks for the Packers during the 2024 season with 7.5 and Green Bay potentially making a trade for the Bengals star pass rusher would be the ultimate move.
