Giants quarterback Russell Wilson is holding the reins of the offense until 2025 first-round pick Jaxson Dart is ready to take over. Still, Wilson is looking forward to his time with the Giants and is beginning to feel more comfortable in his new city, especially since one of his friends plays for the Yankees.
Speaking to New York Post sports reporter Peter Botte, Wilson described how he is getting acclimated to the area.
“It’s been a lot of fun just feeling like we’re part of New York now, and to be around the other teams and these great athletes, like my friend Aaron Judge,” Wilson told Botte. “I’m looking forward to the new season with the Giants.”
Botte added that Wilson has watched Knicks games at Madison Square Garden on their road to the Eastern Conference finals, furthering his connection with the city. Being out in public and spending time with the players of both teams was a priority for Wilson.
“It’s always important to be around this winning culture and especially the baseball guys like Aaron, who I’ve been close with, having been in spring training with these guys, it’s always an honor,” Wilson said. “I’ve always been a huge Yankees fan since I was little. I loved Derek Jeter and the tradition of it all. Those things matter to me.”
