Commanders Expected To Have Marquee Matchup With NFC Foe

The Washington Commanders know they have plenty of top matchups on their 2025 schedule this season. NFC East showdowns with contenders in Dallas and Philadelphia, a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, and many others highlight the improved marketability for the team moving forward.

In total, Washington has five primetime games currently scheduled for the upcoming season with eight stand-alone games also a part that.

Of all the matchups, though, one primetime showdown stands above the rest at this time. When the Commanders take on the Chicago Bears in Week 6 on Monday Night Football, it will be a rematch of last year's miracle Hail Mary finish for the team's second overall pick in Jayden Daniels over Chicago's first overall pick in Caleb Williams.

NFL.com writer Jeremy Bergman made it clear that showdown will be one of the best primetime games of the year.

"Caleb Williams and the Bears return to the scene of the crime nearly a year to the day when their 2024 season was turned upside down by Jayden Daniels' Hail Mary," Bergman wrote. "A rematch of one of 2024's most fantastic finishes, Bears-Commanders Part II will once again pit the top two picks in last year's draft against one another.

"Only this time, Williams will have a new coach and offensive line to help his case."

Chicago won a single game after their Hail Mary loss to Washington last season. The Commanders, meanwhile, used that victory as a springboard to the NFC Championship game.

Both teams will have a lot riding on this game. Both quarterbacks will want to prove their worth.

And that alone is enough to make their battle one of the most anticipated in the league next season.
