Arsenal are ready to ramp up their interest in Real Madrid star Rodrygo, according to reports in Spain. It has been reported that the Brazil winger is facing an uncertain future in the capital with the imminent arrival of Xabi Alonso.
The former Liverpool midfielder was officially in the dugout for Bayer Leverkusen for the final time on Saturday, bowing out after a 2-2 draw with Mainz. In recent weeks, the prospect of Rodrygo leaving the club have seemingly increased with reports suggesting a host of European and Premier League clubs are interested.
Spanish outlet AS has claimed that Rodrygo faces a difficult future due to the philosophy that Alonso will decide to implement at the Bernabeu.
At the same time, it has been claimed that there is competition for his signature from Premier League clubs - with the outlet naming Manchester United and the Gunners as clubs are "willing to ramp up" their respective pursuits.
The problem, it has been claimed, facing Rodrygo is Alonso's intent to use two strikers, which could be Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr - who are ahead of him in the pecking order.
The outlet suggests that Rodrygo already has one foot out of the door as he faces a new season in a supportive role to the Madrid strikers.
Meanwhile, Goal is reporting a potential twist in the club's pursuit of Rodrygo - as Chelsea are now said to be monitoring his situation.
Liverpool have been previously linked with the Blues are reportedly at the table and are considering a bid to sin the striker during the summer window.
Talks are yet to begin between the Stamford Bridge club and Rodrygo, or Real Madrid, but it has been claimed that Chelsea have already contacted the player's staff.
Chelsea have reportedly signalled their intent to the Brazilian's representatives in order to understand the possibility of a summer transfer.
He has three years remaining on his contract and it has been suggested that the length of the deal remaining will mean Real Madrid could demand a lofty fee.
Rodrygo hasn't discussed the prospect of leaving the Spanish giants but has been out of action in recent weeks.
His absence led to rumours of unhappiness from the forward but it sparked a response from the Brazilian.
"Thank you for all your messages and concerns," he responded on Instagram. "I’ll be back soon.
"Stop making things up."
