The Giants, trading up to the No. 25 pick in this year’s draft, put their faith in quarterback Jaxson Dart as their future solution under center.
Dart joins a quarterback room that features Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito. The rookie will develop behind the two veterans as the Giants prepare him to, hopefully, be a franchise guy after general manager Joe Schoen’s bold move up to grab him.
The Giants ave received a slew of positive reviews for the pick, including from quarterback guru Jordan Palmer.
“I genuinely feel like it’s a great fit,”Palmer said to Big Blue View’s Ed Valentine on his podcast, via Giants Wire. “I’ve got a couple buddies that are diehard Giants fans. You guys should have something to be excited about right now, for sure.”
Palmer praised the pairing of Dart with Giants head coach Brian Daboll.
“What doesn’t get seen is his ability to teach. I’m a quarterback coach, but at the end of the day, I’m a teacher. I’ve seen Brian Daboll be one of, honestly if not the best at teaching the game,” Palmer said. “I just kind of have felt for a couple years that I can’t wait until Brian can get his guy that he picked, that he brought in.”
In his senior season at Ole Miss, Dart threw for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 495 rushing yards and three more touchdowns on the ground.
Dart was the second quarterback selected in this year’s draft after Cam Ward, who went first overall to the Titans. To select Dart at No. 25, Schoen surrendered two third-round picks (including one in 2026).
