Rodrygo future latest: Chelsea 'bid', Real Madrid alternative, player's 'stance'

Rodrygo's name continues to do the rounds, with talk of a Premier League move gaining momentum.

Recent reports suggest the Brazil international is growing unsettled at Real Madrid, having been deployed out of his preferred position. Despite rumours suggesting he's on the market this summer, Rodrygo has dismissed the speculation.

Taking to social media, Rodrygo said: "Thank you for all your messages and concerns. I'll be back soon. Stop making things up."

The Brazilian was recently left out of two Real Madrid squads, missing both the Copa del Rey final defeat to Barcelona and the La Liga win over Celta Vigo. He returned to the squad for Sunday’s El Clásico but remained an unused substitute.

Their final match will be at home against Real Sociedad on May 24 but Rodrygo is understood to be recovering from a knock. It remains to be seen whether he will make a return this weekend.

Off the pitch, speculation around his future continues - and football.london has taken a look at the latest reports on Rodrygo coming out of Brazil.

'Chelsea consider Rodrygo bid'

Risa Simplicio and Thiago Fernandes of GOAL Brazil, wrote: "Chelsea closely follows Rodrygo's situation at Real Madrid and considers a proposal to sign the striker in the summer transfer window, GOAL has learned. Talks have not yet begun, but Chelsea have already approached Rodrygo's entourage to explore the possibility of a transfer materialising.

"In Spain, there are rumours about a possible departure of the Santiago Bernabeu striker. Rodrygo is under contract with Real Madrid until June 30, 2028, and an early departure would require financial compensation from the English club. The striker has not yet expressed himself about departing the club this summer.

"Recently, there were rumours about the striker having refused to play for Real Madrid because of relationship problems with teammates - Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe - but the player denied those claims.

"Stop making things up," he wrote on his X's account (formerly Twitter).

'Los Blancos already looking for a replacement'

Leandro Vieira of Somos Fanaticos, wrote: "Real Madrid are aware of the possibility of losing Rodrygo in the next transfer window and, therefore, are already looking at other names. The Brazilian did not have a great season and is now attracting interest from other clubs.

"Despite the disappointing performance, especially in the Champions League, the board wants to keep the main attacking players. The club fears that the Brazilian may ask to be negotiated amid the interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Real already have a list of possible substitutes.

"There are some very interesting options that may arise. One of them is the Frenchman Desire Doue, who has had a great season at PSG. However, it would not be easy to reach an agreement with the Champions League finalist. Rayan Cherki is also another name under consideration, following good seasons at Lyon.

"Being able to play both in the middle and on the right side of the attack, is attractive for Los Blancos."

'Tired of being played in different position'

Speaking on ESPN Brazil's F360 program, journalist Gustavo Hofman said: "Rodrygo wants to play in his position and is tired of being improvised in other positions, he wants to play on the left.

"What will this lead to? We'll see in the next few days, weeks, next season. But this is information I got from people close to him. Rodrygo wants to play in his position, where he has always thrived more."

'Contact with English clubs'

FootBoom, wrote: "Rumours and rumours continue to circle, indicating that Rodrygo's representatives have already made contact with some of the biggest clubs in England. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are on the list of his potential suitors.

"The goal is to guarantee the Brazilian star regains his protagonism - something that has been missing in Madrid due to the fierce competition in attack.

"Man City have emerged as a favourite. The Citizens' interest in Rodrygo is nothing new: in previous seasons, rumours about a possible attack were constant. Now, with the Brazilian striker potentially available, speculations continue - bringing the Premier League closer to the star.

"With Pep Guardiola in charge, Rodrygo's talent is even more valued. His versatility pleases the coach, who can use it in different tactical schemes, whether wide or through the middle to break opposing defences. Young, Rodrygo emerges as an attractive option to strengthen City's attack, especially with possible reformulations planned for next summer.

'Man City contact'

John Victor of Portal Leo Dias, wrote: "In the midst of a difficult period, with limited opportunities, Rodrygo is in the sights of English clubs. The Brazilian is of interest to Chelsea and Manchester City. The player's father has already had an initial contact with City to know about the club's plans for Rodrygo.

"However, there is still no proposal on the table and Rodrygo's intention is to remain at the Spanish club. What can be said is that a possible exit from Real Madrid will only be debated after the Club World Cup, which will be played between the months of June and July.

"The player's emotional state is understood to have worried the Real Madrid board, who still see Rodrygo as an important player for the squad."
