Texans Respond to Fans Concern About Offensive Line

On May 19, the Houston Texans hosted their annual ‘State Of The Texans’ event at NRG Stadium. During the event, season ticket members engage directly with team leadership, including executives and coaches, to discuss the team's direction and upcoming season expectations.

A big concern among Houston fans: The offensive line. With OT Laremy Tunsil being traded for draft picks on March 10, the fans expressed concern in no offensive lineman being selected with the team’s first picks.

The concern about the offensive line comes with worry about QB C.J. Stroud’s protection.

“The poor thing (Stroud) is just running for his life,” a fan said as a burst a laughter spreads through NRG Stadium. “But your first pick wasn’t offensive lineman.”

Nick Caserio, the general manager of the Texans, was the first to respond to the statement.

“The draft is not an exact science,” Caserio said. “The players come off the board at different points and we try to move around the board.”

The Texans traded its first-round draft pick in this season’s NFL Draft, pick No. 25, to the New York Giants for the 34th and 99th overall picks in this year's draft, and a third rounder in 2026.

“You guys know us, we pretty much trade every draft pick that we have,” Caserio said. “For Demeco (Ryan) and I, we aren’t concerned.”

After the team elected to draft Jaydem Higgins with the 34th overall pick, the team took Minnesota OT Aireontae Ersery.

“The offensive line is about being a cohesive unit,” Texans’ coach Demeco Ryan said. “It’s about all those guys playing together, it’s not always about the offensive line… It’s 11 guys working together.”

The expected starters on the Houston Texans offensive line next season are LT Cam Robinson, LG Tytus Howard, C Jarett Patterson, RG Juice Scruggs and RT Blake Fisher.
