Chelsea were busy in the transfer market in 2024/25, and here’s how their new signings did

Following the transfer business of Chelsea has been one of the highlights of each transfer window since Todd Boehly bought the club in May 2022. The Blues spent over £230m in the 2024/25 season, their most expensive purchases including Pedro Neto from Wolves for £54m and Joao Felix for an initial £42m from Atlético Madrid.

More of the same is expected this summer, as the club will likely continue with their policy of poaching the best youth talent from across the world, continuing the club’s tradition since their Roman Abramovich days of having the most players out on loan at any given time. Head coach Enzo Maresca will also hope to strengthen his first-team squad in several key areas ahead of his second season at the club.

We decided to have a look back at the Blues’ signings from the last two transfer windows - with 13 players arriving in all across the first team and youth team squads - and rated how each of them have done since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

How Chelsea’s permanent first-team signings rated

Pedro Neto - 7/10: Chelsea’s biggest-money transfer last summer, Neto was brought in for £54m from Wolves with a view to adding dynamism and creativity to Chelsea’s already star-studded forward line. With four goals and five assists in the Premier League he hasn’t quite set the world alight, but arguably equally important is the fact that Neto has stayed almost injury-free with 34 Premier League appearances, the most of his career after an injury-hit time at Wolves. The Portuguese international has been the Blues’ bright spark at times and at 25, still has his best years ahead of him.

Joao Felix - 3/10: Another expensive buy was Neto’s international team-mate Joao Felix, who arrived for an initial £42m from Atlético Madrid after a previous loan spell in West London in 2023. Felix flattered to deceive, registering just one goal and one assist in 363 minutes of Premier League football before being shipped out on loan to AC Milan in the January transfer window. Where Felix will play his football next season remains to be seen.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - 4/10: Slightly less costly at £30m, Dewsbury-Hall has been equally uninspiring but just edges out Felix due to his contributions in the Conference League. Despite only playing 254 minutes in the Premier League, the former Leicester City midfielder has started 11 Conference League games, registering four goals and two assists on the way to the final.

Filip Jorgensen - 4/10: At 23 years old, £20m signing Jorgensen is one for the future as far as goalkeepers are concerned. Only making six Premier League appearances, Jorgensen has also featured heavily in the Conference League campaign, with five clean sheets in 11 matches.

Tosin Adarabioyo - 6/10: Probably their most profitable transfer having arrived for free from local rivals Fulham, centre-back Adarabioyo has made 14 Premier League starts and 10 Conference League starts, making 36 appearances in all and scoring four goals.

Marc Guiu 6/10: Signed as an 18-year-old from Barcelona, Guiu was a significant transfer coup for Chelsea. He shone in the Conference League group stage, with six goals in six matches - including a hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers - before his season was cut short due to a hamstring injury in February. Would probably be rated higher had he not made just three substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Chelsea loan transfers

Jadon Sancho - 5/10: Brought in on loan from Manchester United, Sancho showed flashes of his former self in the autumn before falling out of favour in recent weeks. Still, the former England international has registered four goals and 10 assists in all competitions, including three Premier League goals. The fact Chelsea are reportedly considering paying £5m to United in order not to make his transfer permanent reflects they wanted more from him, though.

Other additions

Bringing in a further six players, three of which have been sent back out on loan, Chelsea have continued a recruitment policy firmly focused on developing youth talent for the future:

Omari Kellyman (19, £19m) - Chelsea U21

Mike Penders (19, £16.8m) - loaned out to Genk

Aarón Anselmino (20, £14m) - Chelsea U21

Mathis Amougou (19, £12.5m) - one Premier League appearance since signing in January

Renato Veiga (21, £11.8m) - made seven Premier League appearances before a loan to Juventus in January

Caleb Wiley (20, £8.5m) - loaned out to Watford
