Arsenal set to make 28yo available for summer transfer

Oleksandr Zinchenko could be the second Arsenal left-back to leave the club this summer, with the Gunners reportedly set to make him available for sale.

Sam Dean reports for The Telegraph that Oleksandr Zinchenko will be made available for sale by Arsenal this summer, with the left-back entering the final year of his contract at the club.

Kieran Tierney is already set to leave, running down the final month of his deal before signing for Celtic on a free transfer.

But with Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori also available to Mikel Arteta, it seems Zinchenko is also surplus to requirements.

In addition to the regular left-backs, Arteta has a number of other players capable of playing the role. When Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber are fit, both can operate on the left. Jakub Kiwior has played there in the past as well.

The Gunners are incredibly well stocked at left-back, so it’s one area of the squad where they can afford to let decent players leave.

Zinchenko has rarely let Arsenal down this season when called upon, he just can’t find a way into the starting lineup on a regular basis. With just one game remaining, he’s only up to 719 minutes for the club season.

Having said all of that, Andrea Berta will still want a decent fee for the 28-year-old. Zinchenko is in his prime years as an established Premier League player and a regular Ukraine international, he certainly has the capability to have an impact with his next club.
