Alex Iwobi shares what was so unique about Everton compared to Arsenal

Alex Iwobi had a fairly solid stint at Goodison Park, and Everton fans will have expected him to kick on when he left.

The midfielder was bought for £34m and sold for £22m to Fulham as both deals involved former Everton boss Marco Silva.

Iwobi’s time at Everton could’ve been seen as a flop, but he certainly turned around his form under Frank Lampard.

In his final season, the Nigerian played a pivotal role in keeping Everton in the Premier League, and that’s why Iwobi owes his upward trajectory to Lampard.

Starting his career at Arsenal, he’s certainly had plenty of experience, but there is something that stood out to him at Everton.

Alex Iwobi shares what was so unique about Everton

With Iwobi having the season of his life at Fulham, it might have shocked Everton fans just how good he’s become.

He’s proven to be one of the players who has gone under the radar, and Everton will be hoping they can replicate similar signings in the summer.

To back up the fact that he’s been so good, Iwobi has been a creative machine, which the Toffees have lacked this season.

In a way, Everton’s style of play might have held back the midfielder, and this is what made Everton so unique to him.

Speaking to the Inside Scoop, the Fulham star compared his start at Arsenal with his time at Everton, and how different both clubs went about things.

“Arsenal were tiki-taka, Everton? Run, tackle, if a guy is going past you, kick him,” Iwobi said.

“They treated me like I was one of their own, which was nice. I never struggled.”

David Moyes will continue Everton’s style of play

Nowadays, teams try different approaches with expansive and expressive football.

It’s worked for the Bournemouths of the league, but someone like West Ham have really struggled to grasp the context of it.

This is why Everton have somewhat of an advantage through David Moyes’ hard-hitting football which can be built upon with new players next season.

Moyes is more possession-based, and maybe Iwobi would’ve settled in more under the Scotsman as opposed to other managers he failed under, but the Nigerian has got it bang on through the Toffees’ legacy of being a hard team to beat.
