Bo Nix orchestrated a chemistry-building vacation with Broncos WR room

Chemistry is of the utmost importance for any team to have success in professional sports, not just in the NFL. Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix knows that, and made sure to jump on the opportunity to build chemistry with his fellow wide receivers, new and old, after the 2025 NFL Draft.

New Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant, who was drafted 74th overall in the third round, had never worked with Bo Nix prior to hearing his name called on draft night a few years ago. Nix made sure to reach out instantly and start creating a bond with his newest teammate.

“He called me the night, same night of the draft,” Bryant said on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams recently.

It didn’t take Nix long to get a vacation organized with the quarterbacks and the wide receivers, which Bryant said should be a healthy blend of fun and work.

“I think like three, four days later, we all [were] in a group chat and Bo was just telling us … we’re all gong to take a quarterback/receivers retreat. So, pretty exciting to get around the guys. I hear they like golf a lot, so I’ve got to get my golfing skills up.”

Bryant is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver from Illinois, and his bigger frame should make him a viable backup option behind the likes of Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims, but doesn’t have speed that Mims and Troy Franklin have. Sean Payton recently compared the big-body receiver to Michael Thomas, who is one of the best wide receivers that Payton has ever coached.

Nix has always gone out of his way to establish relationships with his teammates at all levels. Last year, he made a strong bond with Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham as the quarterbacks. Growing up, he made a bond with former Oregon teammate Tez Johnson in what became one of the best, most heartwarming stories in all of sports.

The second-year quarterback from Oregon helped lead the Broncos to their first playoff berth since they won the Super Bowl in the 2015-16 season with Peyton Manning in charge. He’s attempting to make a year two leap similar to what Manning did to help get the Broncos deeper into the playoffs, and he’s starting that by creating chemistry with his teammates.

Adams asked Bryant if he can golf so he can hit the links with his new receiver room.

“No, not even a little bit,” he joked. “I’m going to control the music, the speaker …”

OTAs start a week from Tuesday for the Broncos, which will be another chance for Bryant to make a name for himself as the offseason continues on.
