Football Insider reports that Leicester are in advanced talk to appoint Russell Martin as their next manager. Ruud van Nistelrooy is, according to the same source, history after the Bournemouth game.

Ruud has not managed to build a foundation out of a solid group of players. These players were more or less the same as what Enzo Maresca had at his disposal. The group also included two new talented young internationals, Bilal El Khannouss and Facundo Bounanotte. Caleb Okoli has not played much either. He has recently been given call up’s to the Italian national team. Given the struggles Ruud has had, it makes this an honest decision.

The reason to go with Russell Martin must be his track record in Championship football. He also one that can build a team with building on strong possession. He has a clear idea on how he wants to play football. Next season, Leicester will be a force at this level. There are no doubts about it.

The former Norwich defender has 29 Scotland caps to his name. He should be able to please fans. They will see a team trying to play a style similar to what we did see under Enzo Maresca.

This report is supported by former Leicester forward Alan Smith. In April, he believed Ruud van Nistelrooy would walk after the season.

Several names are being suggested for the Leicester manager position. At this point, Russell Martin is the favourite to take over. This prediction is supported by the report from Football Insider.

Soccervoice have a rating system in place for transfer sources, listing Football Insider in Category 3. They are not always correct, but in some way getting more and more credibility. We will have to wait after the Bournemouth game. Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in charge for that final game of the season.

We experienced somewhat a similar situation when Ian Holloway led the club back in 2007-08. During that period, he took Leicester down to the third tier. He was in charge all the way through and had hopes to stay on, but was sacked. Nigel Pearson was appointed after the relegation was a fact.
