All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they prepare to conclude their season against Southampton.

Jorginho deal done

Arsenal already know they will be saying goodbye to a popular member of their squad this summer, with Jorginho set to leave at the end of his contract. The midfielder has served an important role for the Gunners over the last couple of years, offering leadership and experience.

But at 33 years of age, he is not going to get a new contract, and the midfielder is headed back to Brazil, and on a speedy schedule. According to Fabrizio Romano, not only will Jorginho be signing for Flamengo on a free contract, but he will be cleared to play for them in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer despite the tournament beginning before a contract would usually come into effect, on July 1. Romano tweeted: “Jorginho will play the FIFA Club World Cup as Flamengo player after receiving the green light from Arsenal. Deal sealed.”

There were fears that Jorginho would miss the rest of the season, but he is now back in action, coming off the bench over the weekend.

Eze linked

Arsenal are said to be interested in a deal to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who scored the winning goal in the FA Cup final on Saturday. GiveMeSport have claimed that the Gunners are hoping to enter the race to sign Eze, who is likely to be pursued by a number of top clubs this summer.

It’s claimed Eze has a release clause worth around £68million, and it’s clear that he is capable of playing at the very top level. The Gunners might have trouble finding the ideal spot for the England international, given they already have Martin Odegaard in the number 10 position, but they could put Eze out wide.

Manchester City and others have also been linked with a move for Eze, who defeated them in the final over the weekend. Eze said after the game while speaking to BBC Sport: "I couldn't breathe! City keep the ball so well, you have to work so hard to get anything from them. When you get in their box you have to make the chance count. I've come a long way. To be in this position now - it's hard to use the right words here."

He added: "This is special, I don't even know what to say. Thank God, only God could do this. Facing the team that's been the best in the world for years, to show that type of spirit and energy... only God."

Arteta on Arsenal summer plans

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s plans for the summer are already decided upon. He said after the win over Newcastle United: “The plan is done and the time will be dictated by many parties, many circumstances that unfortunately we don't control. But we have great people in charge of that and they're going to be leading that with the board and ownership.

“And as well make sure that the ones that we have, they feel valued, they feel loved and make sure that they want to continue with us in the right manner, then the whole environment that is excited. That is not just about if we make it because we cannot start a season like that, and I want to feel that from day one. I'm going to be very insistent on that.”
