Santos goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão has emerged as a new target for Chelsea, according to UOL.
The Brazilian was at Parma and Inter Milan and returned to his country permanently when Santos signed him in February 2024. Since then, he’s kept 19 clean sheets and conceded 56 goals from 54 games.
Chelsea have taken notice of the 24-year-old’s performances and UOL’s title says they ‘enter the fight’ for Gabriel Brazão.
Within the report, it’s explained the Blues have made contact in recent days to ask about the stopper. The outlet adds they are evaluating formalising an offer when the transfer window reopens.
UOL make no mention of the fee the Premier League club are willing to propose but state Chelsea are currently behind other European clubs. They add FC Porto, Galatasaray and unnamed clubs from Italy have expressed interest in the goalkeeper.
Gabriel Brazão has a contract lasting until December 2028. Although his club are aware it’ll be difficult to hold on him, the report states Santos won’t make it easy to negotiate the transfer.
Enzo Maresca has Robert Sánchez, Filip Jørgensen, Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergström [contract until June] as the four stoppers at his disposal. In addition to this, Chelsea have sent Mike Penders, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic and Gabriel Slonina out on loan.
Taking this into account, it’s unclear whether Chelsea will look for a new goalkeeper in the upcoming window.
