Report: There is a suggestion that Everton have now tabled an offer for a former Barcelona star

A very busy summer transfer window is on the horizon for Everton as they prepare for a major squad rebuild.

David Moyes‘ side will be forced to make wholesale changes to their squad, with several first-teamers leaving on free transfers.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has just confirmed that he will leave Everton after almost five years at the club, whilst the likes of Ashley Young and Michael Keane are also joining him.

Moyes is desperate to sign a left-back this summer as he wants to provide Vitaliy Mykolenko with competition.

Leicester City’s Victor Kristiansen has been linked to Goodison Park, and now there’s a fresh transfer update regarding another full-back.

Suggestion Everton have tabled contract for Junior Firpo

Everton News reported earlier this month that Moyes is interested in signing former Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo.

Graeme Bailey exclusively told the website: “It seems that a move to Spain could be his preference at this point, but I would not rule out the prospect of staying in England, and if he does, don’t rule out Everton.”

Now, according to Estadio Deportivo, the Leeds defender has received multiple contract offers, and whilst there’s no mention of the Toffees, there is a feeling it could be.

The report also claims that Firpo wants to make a final decision in the coming weeks, so Everton will find out their fate very soon.

The Spaniard hasn’t ruled out penning a renewal with Leeds, who have just gained promotion back to the Premier League.

Firpo stats 2024/25

Firpo established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Championship this season, laying on a whopping 10 assists.

The 28-year-old was named Leeds Player of the Month for February, which is some accolade as a defender.

If Everton do manage to land Firpo’s signature, he may well replace Mykolenko, rather than come in as a back-up option.
