Contract value for new Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher revealed

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted veteran pass rusher Jack Sawyer after a storied career at Ohio State. Sawyer was someone the Steelers showed plenty of interest in during the pre-draft process, and it is no surprise to see him circle back and pick him in the fourth round.

Sawyer has already inked his rookie contract, and Derrick Harmon is the only rookie still to be signed. Harmon should end up inking that deal soon with many players around him signing their deals.

As for Sawyer, what will he make after being the No. 123 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft?

In its entirety, Sawyer’s contract is a four-year, $5.15 million contract with $950,932 guaranteed, according to OverTheCap.com. Sawyer’s cap hit will come in just north of $1 million.

Each year, Sawyer’s base salary will slightly increase, with his rookie year base salary at $840,000. His cap hit will never exceed $2 million during his rookie tenure without player performance enhancers.

In his four seasons at Ohio State, Sawyer recorded 23 sacks, nine of which came in his senior season, helping the Buckeyes win a National Championship. He also had 144 tackles and 11 pass deflections over his career.

Sawyer slots in as a special teamer who can bring some run defense upside to the Steelers’ edge rusher group. Against teams where they have heavier personnel, Sawyer can be an outside linebacker with that potential.
