Signed to a one-year, $10 million contract, former Commander Dyami Brown is expected to stretch defenses and inject much-needed explosiveness into Jacksonville’s offense. The Jaguars are banking on his speed and vertical threat to add a new dimension to their passing game.
John Shipley from Jaguars on SI, present at Monday’s practice, noted that Brown stood out as the top performer of the session.
“Brown displayed crisp routes, was one of the few receivers who did not deal with drops, and made explosive plays both through the air and on designed touches as a ball-carrier,” Shipley remarked.

In the 2024 NFL playoffs, Brown averaged 16.4 yards per reception, demonstrating the vertical threat the Jaguars previously lacked. His ability to stretch defenses creates more space for players like Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, and the tight end group to make plays underneath and over the middle.
Brown delivered a strong postseason showing in 2024 with Washington, racking up 89 yards in the NFC wildcard game and 98 yards in the divisional round. According to PFF, he averaged 16.4 yards per reception during the playoffs.
“Running alongside the likes of Thomas and Hunter, Brown made it clear that defenses will not be able to afford considering him an afterthought,” Shipley continued.

As Jaguars OTAs progress, Brown’s role is set to expand if he maintains this level of play. With Thomas Jr. attracting primary coverage and Hunter’s usage still being defined, Brown could emerge as a key secondary target—one with the ability to change the game with a single explosive catch.
