Manchester United have reportedly held talks with a player this week, but he has also been linked with Newcastle and Chelsea.
Manchester United are set to add more attacking talent to their squad this summer, after reports suggested they have already agreed to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The Brazilian has a £62.5m release clause.
However, Cunha isn’t an out and out number nine, he would more likely play for Ruben Amorim’s side in one of the number 10 roles behind the striker. But United have been linked to more strikers.
Delap set to meet with Newcastle and Chelsea
Ipswich’s Delap is going to be a big talking point this summer, as he has a £30m release clause in his contract following the Tractor Boys’ relegation back to the Championship. He has been a bright spark this season for Kieran McKenna’s side, scoring 12 Premier League goals in 36 games.
It did look as though United were the front-runners to sign Delap, despite interest from Chelsea, however reports have emerged saying that Newcastle have now become contenders to land the 22-year-old.
According to TalkSPORT, Newcastle are among the clubs set to hold talks with Delap, as he is poised to have face-to-face discussions with the Magpies ahead of the summer, as they look for a striker to partner Alexander Isak at St James’ Park.
The report also says that Delap will speak to representatives from Chelsea too, as the Blues have been linked to signing him for several months alongside United. It says that he has already met with United, potentially suggesting that they were the most eager to talk to him.
As things stand, it looks good for United; however, as Delap reportedly prefers a move to the North West, one of his considerations will be that he wants to play in Europe.
Gyokeres signing ‘has not been ruled out’
The Sweden international looks most likely to move to rivals Arsenal with a fee of £59m estimated to be the cost to land Gyokeres. However, if United were to come in with a late offer, Gyokeres could be tempted to join at Old Trafford with his former manager Amorim.
The 26-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe this season, netting, 53 goals in 51 games in all competitions, helping Sporting CP to the league title, despite Amorim leaving in Autumn.
