Just a week after releasing him, the Carolina Panthers have re-signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver T.J. Luther. The Panthers released Moose Muhammad with a waived/injured designation, bringing Luther back for another chance.
The Panthers signed Luther to their practice squad at the end of last season and inked him for a future contract shortly after the end of the season. However, after the team drafted Tetairoa McMillan, Luther has an uphill climb to the roster.
Luther joined the Steelers last in training camp and was cut during the cut downs to the 53-man roster. He played in two preseason games with the team, and the Green Bay Packers signed Luther after the Steelers released him, but he did not last long in Green Bay.
Luther. 24, spent two seasons with the New England Patriots, but was cut by the team during OTAs. Coming out of Gardner-Webb, the New York Jets were the first team to sign Luther.
Luther was a First-Team All-Big South selection in 2022 when coming out of Gardner-Webb. The 5-foot-11 wide receiver ran a 4.50 40-yard dash at his pro day, flashing enough production and athleticism throughout the process to earn himself opportunities in the NFL.
