It's no big secret that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb hasn't had a ton of help the last few years. Truth be told, the four-time Pro Bowler hasn't genuinely split targets with another wide receiver since 2021.
In what was then just his second season, Lamb led the Cowboys with 79 receptions on 120 targets for 1,102 yards and six touchdowns, while veteran Amari Cooper, in what turned out to be his last season with America's Team, recorded 68 catches on 104 targets for 865 yards and eight scores.
Over the last three seasons, no Dallas wideout has come within 52 catches of Lamb's total, the closest instance occurring just this past year as Jalen Tolbert racked up 49 catches compared to Lamb's 101.
And as far as yardage goes, the highest total in this stretch that didn't come from No. 88 was Brandin Cooks' 657 yards in 2023.
To be fair, tight ends weren't included in either of those categories, but the point is clear that the Cowboys haven't had a genuine WR2 in years.
And according to Lamb, they still don't. But that's only because CeeDee believes new running mate George Pickens, who was acquired via trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers a couple of weeks back, is a WR1 as well.
CeeDee Lamb on new Cowboys WR George Pickens: "We both ones"
Over the weekend, both Lamb and Pickens participated in Kyler Murray's charity softball game in Scottsdale. And with Pickens standing right beside him, CeeDee had nothing but praise for his new teammate.
"We both ones," Lamb said. "It ain't no A, B, none of that. It's one. You look over there, you see one. You look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that."
Pickens unquestionably has talent, racking up 174 receptions for 2,841 yards and a dozen touchdowns in his three seasons in the Steel City.
What has come into question, of course, has been the 24-year-old's attitude. This past year was full of controversy, as Pickens got into it with several defenders and picked up multiple personal-foul penalties, which resulted in longtime Steelers coach Mike Tomlin publicly challenging him to grow up.
To his credit, the former Georgia Bulldog addressed those concerns upon his arrival in Dallas, owning up to his mistakes and saying he was taking his personal growth seriously. Sometimes a fresh start is all someone needs to grow, and Pickens is clearly excited to get going with the Cowboys.
It's evident that Lamb is just as thrilled to have the former Steeler now donning a star on the side of his helmet. And if Pickens can keep the drama at bay, the Cowboys could easily have one of the top wideout duos in the entire NFL come September.
