Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty Reveals Encounter With Chip Kelly That Led to Big Change

The Las Vegas Raiders believe they have astar in the making in running back Ashton Jeanty, who had a fantastic 2024 season with the Boise State Broncos. But despite his incredible background in the collegiate ranks, Jeanty is still not a finished product, with the Raiders having the chance to further unlock his true potential.

Enter Las Vegas offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, whose advice may have just helped Jeanty have that extra boost in his game.

During a recent appearance on theUp & Adams, Jeanty shared a story about Kelly urging him to change his stance in the backfield.

ViaKevin Patra of NFL.com:

“You know, sometimes you have to, you know, go with the flow,” Jeanty said. “What’s crazy is, Chip Kelly comes to me first day of rookie minicamp, and he’s like ‘You ever play basketball?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, I play basketball, you know I can dunk and all that.’ He’s like, ‘OK, show me how you would guard me,’ and he’s acting like he’s holding the ball.”

Even though he rushed for nearly 5,000 yards in the 2024 college football season, Jeanty still needs guidance in the pros. The NFL is simply a different beast that one can’t tame on their own, and Kelly is among those who can help Jeanty take his game to another level.
