Confessions of a Polluted Mindset -

Th deeper I looked into the Packers schedule, the less I like it. Besides the obvious things like the early Week 5 bye and two Thursday night games, their schedule is the most "disjointed" of any team in the NFL. Caoches love continuity and consistency of preparation schedules, and LaFleur is not going to be able to count on having a set weekly routine during the 2025 season. In a recent interview, Coach LaFleur bemoaned the number of short, irregular weeks they will have to adapt to. The Packers play twice on Thursday, Night, once on Monday Night, twice on Sunday Night and at least once on a Saturday, with the possibility of two more in the last two weeks of the season. The only way this could have been worse is if they had been chosen to play the Steelers in Ireland as well, Yuk!

Speaking of the schedule, how do you all feel about the possibility of an 18 game schedule somewhere down the line? And how do you feel about the "1816" proposal where all players except for quarterbacks and kickers are limited to 16 games with expanded rosters and practice squads? Personally, I don't want to see 18 games no matter how it's presented and I absolutely hate the 1816 idea.

Pretty interesting that the Packers have changed the wording on their proposal to ban the tush push. They've broadened the wording to disallow aiding the ball carrier in any way other than blocking for him and this applies anywhere on the field, not just at the line of scrimmage. This is basically the rule that was in place up until 2005. The teams were split evenly in their support or non-support of the Packers' original ban proposal, according to ESPN's sources (surely why the NFL decided to revisit at this week's meetings). The Packers are hoping more teams will now support the proposal and get the needed 24 votes in favor of passing the proposal. If I were a team owner, I would vote yes for sure. It's a rule that never should have been changed.

Charles Woodson is now a Browns owner? What? The Browns? Woodson never played for the Browns but did grow up in Ohio. It's a great move for the Browns organization to associate themselves with a Hall of Famer and Super Bowl Champion (here's the Browns' Press Release). As for Woodson, currently an Orlando resident, he is now a whopping 0.1% owner of an NFL team. I wonder if Woodson ever bought a Packers stock certificate, which would make him the first ever "owner" of two NFL teams?

The Packers officially struck Gold(en). First round pick Mathew Golden signed a four year 17.5M contract with the Packers yesterday. It's fully guaranteed and comes with a signing bonus of 9.4M. I noticed this interesting graphic below showing the average annual salaries of the Packers pass catchers and what stands out to me most is what a hell of a bargain Tucker Kraft is. Especially if they follow through on their supposed goal of finding more ways to get the ball in his hands. Please let that come to fruition and not just be empty talk!
