Chelsea ready to step up interest in 21-year-old right-back – Need ‘significant offer’ to sway club

Chelsea have revived their interest in Palmeiras defender Agustín Giay, after previously monitoring him at San Lorenzo.

That’s [according to Bolavip Brasil](https://br.bolavip.com/palmeiras/chelsea-retoma-interesse-em-giay-mas-palmeiras-nao-facilitara-saida), who report that Chelsea intend to make an offer for the 21-year-old right-back.

They explain that Chelsea have been following the Argentine for some time, first at San Lorenzo and now Palmeiras, who he joined in a €7m deal in July last year.

They now want to get serious, but Palmeiras don’t intend to sell. Giuy has been a standout player for them and, crucially, is locked into a deal until 2028.

Chelsea see the youngsters as a signing for the future, but Palmeiras are in no rush to negotiate. They see Giay’s potential as well and would only let him go for a ‘significant offer’. They value him higher than the €7m paid a year ago.

If Chelsea do make an offer, negotiations promise to be long. The Brazilian club have a strong position and do not need to sell at this moment in time.

Of course, money always talks, and Chelsea have not been shy in paying big sums for youngsters over the past two years.

Whether they want to do so for Giay remains to be seen.
