Tim Steidten could be in line to be rewarded for his failures at West Ham after the latest Barcelona update.

West Ham see their campaign come to an end this weekend, and it will certainly not be one that anyone looks back on with any real fondness.

The Irons could finish 17th in the Premier League, showcasing just how far they have regressed since winning a European trophy a few seasons ago.

While Graham Potter will rightfully shoulder a lot of the blame for their shortcomings since the turn of the year, poor recruitment has played a massive part in that, and yet Steidten looks set to be handed another lifeline in football.

Steidten in talks with Barcelona in shock twist

Steidten’s time at West Ham will certainly be remembered, though not for the right reasons. His recruitment ultimately led to the misery that has ensued this season at the London Stadium, and nearly everyone was happy to see him leave.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano via X, Steidten is now in talks with Barcelona over a potential move to join their management team, and David Sullivan will find amusement in that.

It has been a season to forget for the Irons.

After such a miserable time at the London Stadium, very few would have anticipated Steidten being offered a similar job anywhere else, never mind at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

If his decision-making with the Irons is anything to go by, Barcelona could be set to make an appointment that will lead to disaster.

West Ham need to right their wrongs on recruitment front

West Ham have a huge summer ahead of them, and it is imperative that any decisions made are the right ones.

Recruitment at the London Stadium is going to be key to their hopes of progressing next season, and they can’t afford to make any more errors.

With nothing left to play for ahead of the final game of the season, plans will already be in place to ensure that the Irons are prepared for what will be a crucial few months.
