Jason Cundy suggests a central striker who’s linked with Chelsea could be a match made in heaven.
Even though there is a lot to admire about the young and talented Chelsea squad right now, it’s a popular opinion from supporters that they need more firepower in attack.
The list of Blues legends includes iconic centre-forwards such as Didier Drogba and Peter Osgood, but they desperately lack a top-class No 9 in the modern day.
It’s been claimed that Chelsea believe they can afford to sign a major striker this summer as they draw up a shortlist of different profiles. If Enzo Maresca’s squad will include

Jason Cundy thinks Victor Osimhen suits Chelsea
According to Jason Cundy, Chelsea target Victor Osimhen is an individual who feels like the right fit at Stamford Bridge.
When discussing Osimhen, Cundy told talkSPORT: “He’s a Chelsea type of striker. He’s a little bit raw. He’s a little bit unorthodox. I like the fact he puts himself about… He’s the type of guy that will throw himself at even balls he’s not favourite to win.”
Osimhen, 26, has been heavily linked with a potential move to West London.
The centre-forward is currently scoring goals for fun during a loan spell at Galatasaray, netting 36 goals in 40 games this season across all competitions. However, Napoli are ‘almost guaranteed’ to sell Victor Osimhen when the summer transfer window comes around.

Victor Osimhen record in the last three seasons
As much as we like Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson as an option in attack, the club is crying out for a more clinical finisher to lead the line on a weekly basis.
Osimhen’s record of 84 club goals across the last three seasons speaks for itself.

2023/24 Napoli 32 17

Victor Osimhen’s recent record in club football
We’re confident that Osimhen would bring the type of presence in the penalty box that Chelsea desperately lack. For certain, it would help ease the burden off Cole Palmer in the No 10 position as well.
The Blues haven’t had too much difficult creating chances this year under Maresca, but they just need an extra clinical touch to take them to another level.
