Star wide receiver not interested in Olympic Flag Football

On Tuesday, news emerged that the NFL will officially be allowing all players around the league to participate in Flag Football at the 2028 Summer Olympics. But that doesn’t mean that all of the biggest stars in the sport are necessarily interested in playing for Team USA.

Those who do opt to participate in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles will be doing so directly in the middle of the NFL offseason, meaning that they will likely be missing their respective team’s offseason program.

Philadelphia Eagles star acknowledged this while speaking to reporters on the upcoming Olympic Games on Tuesday, detailing that he has no intention of participating in the games because of the scheduling conflict it creates with his own team.

“I heard the Olympics is during camp,” Brown said, via Zach Berman of allphly.com. “So, yeah, that would be tough. That would be fun just to compete. Me personally, no, because of camp. [The media] would be complaining, ‘A.J. Brown is not in camp.’ So would the fans. So I’m going to keep the main thing the main thing.”

It actually sounds as if Brown may want to actually play in the events at the Olympics, just without all of the potential headaches that may come with it.

It will be interesting to see if other big-name players around the league potentially have similar concerns as Brown seems to have. After all, they all have to deal with their own local media members, who may play up the idea of the Olympics potentially being some kind of locker room distraction.

Still, it at least seems as if the door may still be cracked open slightly for Brown to potentially change his mind down the road…
