The defence has been one of the main contributors to the success that FC Barcelona have enjoyed this season, but there is no doubt that the fullback positions are somewhat lacking in depth.
Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde are established as the starting fullbacks for Hansi Flick. On the left flank, Gerard Martin has proven his capabilities to provide cover for Balde whenever he needs rest or is unavailable due to injury.
Hector Fort not enjoying a lot of prominence
On the other flank, Hector Fort was the player in the Blaugrana squad to cover for Kounde when he was not available, but even when the Frenchman was injured in the last phase of the season, the German coach decided to play Eric Garcia in his position, bypassing Fort.
This goes on to show the lack of prominence the youngster has faced throughout the season, and this situation makes his future at Barcelona quite uncertain.

PSV interested in the defender
If he decides to leave, there will be no shortage of offers for him. In fact, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Dutch team, PSV Eindhoven, which has won the Eredivisie title this season, is one of the clubs interested in the defender.
Despite winning the domestic league, the Dutch side does not have a lot of depth at the right-back position, and they had explored the option to get Fort on loan some months ago.
Sergino Dest has been unable to play for the entirety of this season due to a torn ACL after he completed his transfer from Barcelona. Richard Ledezma has been the starter in his absence, but has an offer from the Mexican side Chivas, and has not renewed his contract. Similarly, the club has not offered a new contract to Rick Karsdorp, and he is going to run out to contract.
Thus, PSV needs a new player to play with Sergino Dest, and Hector Fort is one option that attracts the Dutch side. However, it needs to be seen what decision Barcelona will make in this regard, as Hansi Flick and Deco will sit down to finalise the squad for the next season.
