Fabrizio Romano: Man Utd meet with 'phenomenal' star over summer transfer, he's giving priority …

Manchester United and Chelsea have met with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap ahead of a potential move, and the English centre-back is giving priority to clubs in the Premier League this summer, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter.

Delap has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Ipswich, scoring 12 Premier League goals in 36 games for the club. Considering Kieran McKenna's side were relegated to the Championship, it's a strong return with one game remaining this weekend.

United and Chelsea could both be in the market for a new striker in the summer transfer window. Ruben Amorim's side are struggling near the foot of the table and need reinforcements, while Nicolas Jackson has struggled with consistency at Stamford Bridge.

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano has confirmed that Delap is giving priority to Premier League clubs this summer, despite interest from the Bundesliga. When asked if Delap has meet with Manchester United and Chelsea ahead of a potential move, Romano responded...

"Yes, he's assessing all options. Priority to Premier League clubs despite interest also from Bundesliga."

Whether Delap, described as 'phenomenal', is capable of making the step up to playing for United remains to be seen, but the Red Devils have already taken risks with young strikers, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund their current options. Delap, however, has proven himself in the Premier League despite his lack of experience, but there is no doubt there's added pressure when playing for a club like United.

Delap will be available this summer for just £30m after Ipswich were relegated from the Premier League. The soon-to-be Championship club agreed a £30m relegation release clause in Delap's contract, and with their exit from the top flight now confirmed, Delap is free to talk to clubs over a potential move if they cough up the fee.
