The representatives of Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal have laid out altogether significant demands, in talks over the player’s new contract.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Victor Navarro of COPE, who has on Wednesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
It is of course widely expected that Lamine will imminently put pen to paper on fresh terms with Barcelona.
Upon turning 18 this summer, the winger will see his status as one of world football’s very best players recognised, by way of a long-term deal, on vastly increased wages.
And yet, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the Camp Nou brass may need to cough up even more cash to secure Lamine’s future than previously expected.
As per a report from Victor Navarro:
‘Lamine Yamal’s agency has asked for him to be the highest paid player in the squad. He should be at the top because he deserves it.’
Barcelona, in their response, have confirmed that whilst they are keen to aptly reward the club’s young winger for his emergence, the two highest earners in Hansi Flick’s squad at present – Robert Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong – are ‘not a reference. They are players from the past and the club don’t want a repeat,’ it is concluded.
Negotiations with Lamine’s entourage will continue over the weeks ahead…
