There's no shortage of Players To Watch for the Cowboys this season. That tends to be the way it always is – it's almost like Jerry Jones, unfortunately, knows what he's doing – but 2025 will no doubt feature sky-high expectations for a bunch of Cowboys players that are wildly unrealistic. That's the Cowboys experience: if you want a nice quiet Sunday full of harmless fun, that's what the Arizona Cardinals are for.

As for this season's big names with huge expectations, all the usual suspects are there: Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, George Pickens (!!), etc. But [ESPN narrator voice] what if I told you that, actually, the Cowboys player with the biggest amount of hype heading into 2025 is actually an offensive lineman?! You'd tell me this is a stupid game? Fair enough. But you're already like, 350 words into this blog, so you might as well see it out to the end.
You see, CBS Sports is smarter than all of us. While we all waste our time and words debating Dak's greatness and who's going to get the ball on 4th-and-3, the fine folks at CBS Sports are getting absolutely stoked about ... Tyler Guyton, baby. That's right – the second-year offensive lineman showed up on their esteemed list of 'second-year NFL players poised for breakout seasons.' I hope someone told him! Here's what they have to say.
CBS Sports has high hopes for Tyler Guyton heading into his second year
"Offensive tackle Tyler Guyton, the Dallas Cowboys' 29th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, had an uphill battle as a rookie. Dallas drafted him to replace a likely future Hall of Fame left tackle in Tyron Smith despite Guyton playing right tackle in college at Oklahoma. That led to an up-and-down year in which he struggled to master life at the opposite spot on the offensive line, which led to frequent penalty issues."
He was bad last year, but he might be better this year...? is my type of analysis. No reasoning, no explanation, just a blind shot in the dark – the way punditry is meant to be. His up-and-down year has him poised for a breakout season, duh.
Although, honestly, CBS Sports better be right about this one. The Cowboys don't really have the luxury of getting another 17 up-and-down games from an offensive tackle they used a first round pick on. The Abdul Carter nightmare game is right there, staring me in the face as I type this.
Hope you're right, CBS Sports. Otherwise, that blog about it in eight months is not going to be kind.
