Sorry Packers, the tush-push is here to stay.
According to multiple reports, including ESPN, Fox and The Athletic, the proposed ban of the controversial QB sneak did not receive enough votes from NFL owners on Wednesday.
The short-yardage play involves players pushing a ball-handler from behind to help him across the line to gain.
The play has become more popular across football but is most famously used by the Super Bowl champion Eagles featuring QB Jalen Hurts.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the final vote on the proposed ban was 22-10. At least 24 votes were needed to ban the play.
Teams that sided with the Eagles included the Ravens, Patriots, Jets and Lions, Schefter reported.
Banning the play, which some consider dangerous, and others say gives the offense an unfair advantage, has been on the table since Green Bay submitted its proposal in February.
Philadelphia seemingly confirmed the news on its social media, posting a photo of Hurts lining up against the Packers with the caption, “Push on.”
The Eagles also posted a 26-minute video to YouTube featuring nothing but the tush-push and star right tackle Lane Johnson posted reaction to X.
“Pushing forward,” he wrote.
The Eagles finished last season with the fourth-best fourth-down conversion rate in the NFL (70.4%) and finished tied for second in the NFL with 29 rushing touchdowns thanks in large part to the play.
Hurts scored in the NFC Championship and in the first quarter of Super Bowl LIX using the play.
