The 49ers won't be featured on HBO's 'Hard Knocks' this year, neither in training camp nor during the regular season, which is a good thing.
San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is a fan of the old in-office comedy, The Office, going so far as to quote the "I'm a little 'stitious" line from Michael Scott.
It's one thing to watch a "reality" TV show play out, but it's another to actually partake in it.
Shanahan also previously declared he wouldn't want his team to be on HBO's inside-access show, Hard Knocks, while general manager John Lynch referred to it as entertaining but also a distraction for the team involved.
Fortunately for the Niners, they won't be involved in the 2025 installment of the show.
HBO and NFL Films announced the Buffalo Bills would be the "lucky" recipient of the training camp version of the series, while the in-season installment would be on the entire AFC East.
San Francisco, along with the rest of the NFC West, won't be covered.
Granted, the 49ers do have their own sort of "reality" show during training camp, "Brick by Brick," which has ran eight seasons now and is poised for a ninth, paralelling both Shanahan and Lynch's tenures with the franchise.
However, that all-access pass is strictly managed by the Niners, meaning there's no on-camera footage they wouldn't want the public to see.
That wouldn't have been the case with HBO's camera crews sticking their noses into San Francisco's private business.
It's certainly a bonus for Shanahan, Lynch and Co., as they can focus on bouncing back from last year's disappointing 6-11 campaign and the flurry of offseason drama that followed it.
Of course, more The Office quotes from Shanahan would be openly welcomed.
